You see, a portly truck driver named Richard "Dick" Nelson was one of the original owners. He was a big guy, those who know him say. Located at the 47-Mile Marker of the Osage arm of the Lake, the business is more or less halfway between the Truman Dam near Warsaw and the Bagnell Dam at Lake Ozark.

So without belaboring the point, here you have it: Big Dick's Halfway Inn. Our fame is worldwide. On any given day, one may see a T-shirt with a clever innuendo in Canada, on a Florida beach, Mexico or the Bahamas. The Big Dick's sign was placed on the internet and we have received calls from all over the world asking "is this place for real"? Many order items when they call. So we have now made these items available right here on our website.

Cup Tree Lane
Getting here to Big Dick's Halfway Inn is half the fun. In fact it's an adventure with a bit of nostalgia. Along the way a fence is decorated with hundreds of old tennis shoes, some of which even match. No one really knows of their origin but the collection continues to grow. Make a shoe contribution when you come out to visit Big Dick's Halfway Inn.
And just when you think you've taken the wrong turn there's the Cup Tree after which the lane leading to us is named. It isn't like your native oak or elm or hickory tree. It is a stump of a tree decorated with dozens and dozens of coffee and tea cups. Word is the cups were rescued from a dump managed by owners of a nearby home before the State shut it (the dump) down.

Directions

Big Dick's Halfway Inn is located on the west side of the Lake of the Ozarks.

By the water, you go to the mile marker 47 of the Osage arm in Blue Cat Cove.

By Land we are on Cup Tree Road, which is also Lake Road 135-3,
about 5 miles west of Laurie, Missouri. Once you get to Cup Tree Road,
we are about 5.5 miles from the Missouri Route 135.
Just follow Cup Tree Road straight back (don't make any left or right hand turns)
until you see the Halfway Inn Bar & Restaraunt. When you go past the shoe fence
and our famous cup tree, you are almost there.

Once you arrive you will see BIG DICK'S GIFT SHOP where the famous Big Dick's t-shirts
and other Big Dick's apparel and novelties may be purchased, and the famous HALFWAY INN,
known to most folks as BIG DICK'S HALFWAY INN (the home of the Minnow Shot), which is next door.
You have to visit to find out why it's called the Minnow Shot.
